North-East Consumer Awards unveils the preferred brands

Guwahati, 13th Jan 2014: A total of 55 consumer products, brands and services emerged winners in various categories at a red carpet award ceremony for the North-East Consumer Awards 2013, held at the D’ Royal Audotorio in Guwahati on last Saturday. Shri Ranjit Barthakur, the founder and chairman of Globally Managed Services; and Sri Bimal Kumar Baruah, executive director-cum-asset manager of ONGC Assam Asset were conferred with Life Time Achievement Awards. Shri Bhubaneswar Kalita, Chairman, House Committee, Rajya Sabha attended the occasion as chief guest while H.E. Mr. Saw Myint Oo, Minister of Sangaing region of Myanmar and H.E. Mr. U Myint Than, Minister of Mandalay region of Myanmar was the guests of honour.
North-East Consumer Awards 2013 was hosted by Dainik Purvoday along with News Channel DY365, Royal Group of Institutions, Apex Body of Industry Indian Chamber of Commerce and English Daily the Times of India.
Awards are broadly divided under two categories - Consumers’ Choice Awards and Jury’s Choice Awards. Selection for Consumers’ Choice Awards is based on quantitative study conducted by market intelligence agency Oikonomist’s and data further processed and analysed by IMRB International with a total sample size of 2000 from entire North-East. Selection for Jury’s Choice Awards is based on consensus or majority views among members of elite jury panel.
North-East Consumer Awards, an initiative pioneered by leading Hindi Daily of North-East “Dainik Purvoday”, is a unique way of saluting those brands that have caught the imagination of aspiring generation of North-East India. Encouraging the corporate spirit in the region it also aims to recognise the vital contributions made by companies and individuals to development of North-Eastern region and its market. First established in 2010, the North-East Consumer Awards is the biggest consumer programme in North-East India which every year selects the most preferred products, services and brands in their categories. It has been recognized by both civic and business leaders across North-East.
The theme for the awards is “consumers’ most preferred” - a definite endorsement by the organisers of the vital role that consumers play in the advancement of our North-Eastern economy. From haircare to timecare, and from cellular services to financial services, the North-East Consumer Awards strives to provide consumers with options on how to get great value without compromising on service.
